Debra Collins draws on more than a decade of experience as a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Debra helps children, adults and families throughout the Bay Area live more successful and balanced lives by shedding light on issues that keeps them from achieving their goals.
Debra's skill in supporting people through difficulties-from singular issues to complex crisis-comes from a diverse background in treating a broad range of issues and people.
She successfully treats individuals and families in her private practice-Marin Family Counseling. She is highly skilled in supporting adults and families to find solutions for issues such as:relationship difficulties, financial stress, loss, major life transitions, behavior issues, depression and anxiety. Her expertise in illuminating the causes of everyday challenges has helped countless people perform better at work, in school, and in their relationships.
Debra has been a primary and middle school counselor; and conducts popular workshops on positive parenting, school behavior and performance, special needs, and life-balance.
In addition to her work with individuals and families, she has presented her work at national mental health symposiums and was a therapist in both pediatric and adult hospice. She has worked with major healthcare organizations providing support and guidance to families adjusting to the challenges of life threatening illness and loss. Debra currently is a clinical supervisor for several Bay Area mental health organizations providing licensure training to Marriage and Family Therapist and Social Work interns.
Debra is an accomplished public speaker and has been a regular contributor and expert on mental health, parenting, education, grief and loss issues for various media outlets including: KPIX Television, Examiner.com and Greatschools.net.
Debra hold's a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology with a specialization certificate in Child and Adolescent treatment. She is a member of California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists and Marin CAMFT.
